On September 15, 2017 we hosted the 17th Community Town Hall conversation where I asked the people of Peterborough—Kawartha to share their ideas and insights on developing A Food Policy for Canada – our country’s first ever national level policy on food.
I am grateful to the 90 participants who came out to make their voices heard, including the two classes of grade seven and eight students from St. Alphonsus Catholic School. The input and experiences you all shared will contribute to making sure the Peterborough—Kawartha context is considered in the crafting of A Food Policy for Canada.
As promised, this report was developed using your input and has been delivered to my colleague, the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, for his consideration in creating A Food Policy for Canada. The report is now available online – you can download it by clicking here.
Thank you to all those who took time to come out and share your ideas.
